Auxiliary Light Mounting Brackets. Super exciting, right?
That’s right: we made some brackets, universal brackets for auxiliary lights, and a kit for light bars. All mounting points to the body are hidden behind the front grille, making these bracket kits the most discreet way to add front-facing auxiliary lights to your Vanagon. One set allows for front mounted lights; the other is designed for low-profile lightbars. While these brackets can be used with a multitude of lights, we REALLY like these ones. Both styles are super-quality, and ultra low-profile.
• Universal Front Mount: We use the 6.5” Round, Circle Carbine Hybrid Beam LED
• Light Bar Mount: We use the 30” Long, Dual Carbine Hybrid Beam LED Bar
• Pair of stainless steel Universal Auxiliary Light Mount Brackets - Round, or Light Bar
• Mounting hardware
• Easy-to-follow installation instructions
Installation requirements: Requires drilling six (6) small holes in vehicle body
Installation Note: Most auxiliary light kits use either 8mm or 10mm bolts for their primary mounting (ex: STL Hybrid-Beam LED Lights [8mm], Hella 500 Fog Lights [10mm]). The Universal Light Mount Bracket holes are sized for a 10mm bolt and can be used with 8mm bolts by installing the included M8 Self Clinching Nuts.
Front Round Mount Kit: Most auxiliary light kits use either 8mm or 10mm bolts for their primary mounting (ex: STL Hybrid-Beam LED Lights [8mm], Hella 500 Fog Lights [10mm]). The Universal Light Mount Bracket holes are sized for a 10mm bolt and can be used with 8mm bolts by installing the included M8 Self Clinching Nuts.
Light Bar Mount Kit: Most auxiliary lightbars come in 18in, 30in, and 50in lengths. We set the bracket arm angle for the 30” Hybrid Beam Lightbar from Speed Tech Lights. Installing a different length lightbar may require some minor modification of the arm angle—simply bend the arm to square with the edge of your lightbar before installation. We sized the Universal Lightbar Mounting Bracket with a standard 6mm mounting bolt hole—this is the sized used in our Speed Tech Lights 30” lightbar and we found this to be one of the most common mounting bolts on lightbars we tested. The stock square headlight brackets used in late-model vans sit right about 30” apart. This means that with some lightbars, including our Speed Tech Lights 30” lightbar, the Universal Lightbar Bracket may overlap the stock brackets and affect bracket spacing.
