After my 91 Westy died, I bought a 2002 eurovan....needless to say, I tore the propane tank off immediately trying to get to a climbing area in Telluride, and was so bummed when I damaged it again on a simple curb leaving a gas station. Something had to be done. I am not an RV'er and don't stay on the pavement. So I researched and researched. I invested in the GoWesty lift kit last week. What a great investment. Although I have not taken it "Off Road" per se, I did take in on a pretty washed out dirt road to a crag here in Durango. It rode so much better over the washboards, and bumps. Even on the highway bumps it felt much better. I used to think the tires were going to explode when I hit a construction bump on the highway. The clearance is so much better too, and it still fits in my garage. I am so happy I did this, I just wish I had done it sooner. I also wish there were more blogs about it. I took a risk in investing the money because I couldn't find any blogs from people who have done this. So I say "DO IT".

Hi. I bought my 1997 Eurovan 7 years ago in 2009. It had 65,000 miles on it and was much loved by its first and only owner. We were lucky to find it and have enjoyed many great camping trips all over the west. One thing I have always wanted to do but couldn't quite afford to was install the lift kit with the new wheels and 16 inch tires. Well, I finally did the switch, I bought the lift plates, the Fox shocks and the tires with the very cool chrome wheels. Not only is it finally not dragging the ground but the van is level. My propane tank no longer looks like it will bang on the first speed bump I go over. The ride is remarkably smooth and I don't have the feeling I'm falling over as I go around sharp curves. The most surprising thing is the van has become quieter to drive. The van is, after all, just a big box and the insulation isn't all that great but it has been so much louder than other cars and trucks we drive. Now with this new lift kit I have found it is amazingly quieter. I couldn't be more thrilled having installed the kit and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the Eurovan with the Winnebago interior. It is so worth the money and you'll find you will love your van even more than you thought possible.

Simply installing these parts is not all that is required. The front suspension height will need to be adjusted and a 4-wheel alignment is recommended. That requires special tools and a shop with Eurovan experience. We recommend you check out the GoWesty Library article on the subject for more technical information about this process located here.
As the CV joints wear out, a wear pattern is created between the CV balls, inner, and outer races. Lifting your vehicle means the drive axles will now be riding at a different angle. Depending on how worn-out your axles are, this may cause a new vibration under load. The two remedies are to either replace the axles with a fresh set, or at least rotate the CV joints so they are loaded in the opposite direction where there is little to no wear pattern to cause vibration. If your vehicle has identical axle lengths on left and right sides (not all models do), you can simply swap the axles left to right and the CVs will be loaded in the opposite direction. If the axles are not the same, the CV joints will have to be removed from the axles and moved to the opposite axle to achieve the same result. This is a good practice regardless of lifting as it will extend the life of your CV joints.
These tires are larger than the original factory tire, and will cause your speedometer to read roughly 5mph slower than you are actually traveling. Check out our tech article, EV Lift Kit: Will This Affect My Odometer/Speedometer?
Some Eurovans have slightly warped rear bumpers (fenders)—in very rare cases, the 235/60-16 tire/fender clearance will be extremely tight, and some slight trimming of those plastic fenders is required.
